Breed Information

Burmese

The burmese is an elegant breed of foreign type that is heavier than its presence might suggest. They have a short coat that is soft and silky to touch, and easy to care for. There are ten colours to choose from.  Six solid - brown, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, cream, and the four torties, brown tortie, blue tortie, chocolate tortie and lilac tortie. In all varieties the colour will be darkest on the back and should become gradually lighter on the sides and underneath. Burmese are medium sized sociable cats who don't like to be left alone for long periods. Ideally if owners are out all day at work then it's best to have a pair of cats together for company. Please note that not all breeds of cats are compatible with the burmese, it's best to try and home similar types together. Burmese can be very vocal and usually have a tale to tell, especially after they have been left for any length of time, or if it's close to meal time. They are intelligent, inquisitive, nosey and like to join in with everything you do. We don't let our cats out, but they do have a specially made cat house/run in the garden for them to play safely outdoors and get some fresh air. All of our cats come from long lines of indoor cats and we wish their offspring to continue in the same way.

Sphynx

The Sphynx cat originated from Canada and not Eygpt like everybody always thinks. They are medium sized and their bodies should be lean, muscular and warm to touch. Although thought to be bald they actually have very short fine hair called down that covers their bodies. They are very affectionate, love to be around people and other animals, and as before I would not recommend an only cat if you are going to be out at work all day. They are very energetic and love to run and climb. They make excellent family pets and get along well with children. Please note that if you allergic to cats you may still be allergic to Sphynx as they still produce dander. Some people who are allegic to cat hair though may be able to have a Sphynx. They  come in a variety of colours/patterns and should be kept indoors. Even though they have little fur grooming is still necessary, and they need to be bathed regularly to keep their skin free from oil. Their ears also need special care as they have no hairs to protect from dirt and wax.
